Clearing is your chance to find a university course that suits you. It's part of the UCAS application process and helps universities fill any remaining places before the academic year begins.
You can use Clearing if:
- You didn’t apply before the UCAS deadline
- You’ve changed your mind about what or where you want to study
- You didn’t get the grades you were expecting
- You’ve decided last minute that you do want to go to university after all
- You’ve declined your firm place and want to look at other options

Once you’ve accepted your offer, our Accommodation team will help you make an application for our halls of residence. We offer a range of accommodation options and provide support every step of the way, so you feel at home from day one.
Did you know? We guarantee you a place in halls at our Lancaster and Carlisle campuses when you accept a place through Clearing and apply for accommodation by 29 August 2025.

What About Student Finance?
Worried about the cost of university? Don’t be – there’s still time to apply for student finance, even if you’re going through Clearing.
You can apply for loans to help cover your tuition fees and living costs, and there may be extra support available depending on your circumstances. The key is to apply as soon as you can, so your funding is ready in time for the start of your course.
It might feel like a lot to figure out, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our team is here to guide you through the process and answer any questions you have about what support you might be entitled to.
