About the card

How do I get my Cumbria Card?

Most students will be issued with a card when they register with the university on Registration Sunday. If you register at a different time, a card can be produced in the library when you provide proof of registration.

Do I have to register the card?

On Registration Sunday the cards of all students taking a pre-paid catering plan who have submitted their pre-payment in advance will be activated as the next stage in the registration process after your card has been produced. Cards issued at other times will need to be activated by the Catering administration office. Applications are available in all catering outlets.

If you are not a resident student, you can use your card to identify yourself as a student to receive VAT free purchases in the catering outlets or for cashless purchasing.

Can I top up my card with extra money?

Of course. You or a family member will be able to top up your account at any time via an online account. Register online at Upay Chilli and add money via a credit or debit card (the university number is 36). You can add £10-£500 to your account.

Whilst the initial pre-paid catering money is non-refundable and must be spent during your first two academic years at the University any additional credits above the initial prepaid amount will remain on the card for as long as you are a student at the University.
