What is a Cumbria Card?

The Cumbria Card is a multi-functional card which uses smart card technology to access students' accounts. 

 

Printing

You can top up your print credit through the Student Hub. From the Student dashboard click the "Practical Help..." tile and then the "Print Top Up" tile. Login to the print system with your student number and university password.

About the card

How do I get my Cumbria Card?

You will be asked to upload a photo during online registration enabling us to create and activate your Cumbria Card before you arrive. See photo upload guide. You can collect your card from the library at your base campus. For distance learners, the card will be posted to you. If you have not received your card within a few days of starting lectures then please contact the library at your site.

Do I have to pay for my Cumbria Card?

No, your card is free when first issued to you. There is a replacement charge of £6 to replace a lost card.

How secure is the card?

Your Cumbria Card is your ID card while you are at university. It has your photograph on it and your unique student number. You must produce your ID card if requested to do so by a member of university staff.

What happens if I lose my card?

You can order a replacement card from the online store.

Printing

How do I activate my Cumbria Card for Print Copy?

For the first time only - you will need to ‘associate’ your card with your computer account details.

  • At your nearest printer/copier machine, place your card close to the card reader until it beeps.
  • Register with your username and password

You will only have to do this once. The next time you use the printer, you will only need to present your card to the reader and it will recognise you.

You can use any printer/copier with a Cumbria Card.

How can I top up my Print Copy purse with extra money?

Go to payments.cumbria.ac.uk/print/ and top up your account with a debit or credit card. The minimum top-up amount is £5.

You can see your balance when you are logged in to a printer/copier, or by hovering over the £ sign when you are logged on to a university computer.

How do I check my PrintCopy balance on the Cumbria Card?

How can I get a refund on the Print Copy balance on my Cumbria Card?

You will be able to apply for a refund of the balance on your printing account at the end of your course. Please email your completed refund application form to print.unit@cumbria.ac.uk
