Based at our Brampton Road campus in Carlisle, our Institute houses state-of-the art facilities for all arts courses. We also have The Refectory Area (serving hot and cold food), Starbucks Coffee, Vallum Gallery and Stanwix Theatre.
Art and Design Facilities
Art and Design students have access to a number of large open spaces which can be used both for production and exhibition. Students also have access to textiles, ceramics and metal workstations plus large traditional printing presses.
The graphic design and illustration studio is the hub of these courses, where students are encouraged to work daily. There is ample space to facilitate your creations, as well as over 80 Apple Mac computers with the latest software and large memory capacity.
Photography has a wide range of specialist resources available for almost every conceivable art and photographic outcome. We have a range of new equipment, including the latest-spec Nikon digital cameras, professional digital medium-format, panoramic Hasselblad and 4x5 large format and three professionally equipped studios. Post-production and printing is through high-quality, dedicated Mac workstations and modern printers. We maintain traditional wet darkrooms and specialist photography techniques for those who prefer this way of working.
There is also an on-site Art Shop, based in the graphic design studio, which offers a top selection of art materials at competitive prices.
