Our DipHE is a unique diploma offering you the opportunity to study creative writing within the vibrant creative community of the Institute of the Arts in Carlisle. In your first year, you’ll take the same modules as the BA (Hons) Creative Writing students and if you pass, you can move onto the full three year BA.

So if you love writing and want a Creative Writing course that could unlock exciting career opportunities, we’ve created this innovative course that will fire your creative thinking, develop literary techniques, enable you to explore a range of genres and hone your digital writing skills.

You’ll study surrounded by the iconic scenery of the Lake District National Park – now a World Heritage Site - which inspired some of Britain’s greatest writers including Wordsworth, Ransome, Potter and Ruskin.

Outstanding response to university 1000-mile bus tour

Students from the University of Cumbria will be over 450 miles into a 1000-mile tour of Northern England and Ireland by the end of this week, helping people to find their place at university. So far, students have taken over 450 enquiries from people looking to start university this year or next. Students have spoken to people from such far off places as Colombia and one individual is known to have travelled 105 miles from his home in Dublin to visit the bus in Belfast just to get some advice.
