Our Research Skills Development Programme provides structured, free workshops to support you at every stage of your PhD. Delivered by our Research and Knowledge Exchange team, the programme is designed to help you plan, manage, and complete your research with confidence.

Early stage: Year 1 (full-time) | Years 1–2 (part-time)

Develop strong foundations for your PhD. Early‑stage workshops support you to refine your research aims, build key skills, and gain the tools you need to begin your project effectively.

Mid stage: Year 2 (full-time) | Years 3–4 (part-time)

Reflect on progress and maintain momentum. Mid‑stage workshops focus on managing your research, developing advanced skills, and positioning your work within a wider academic and professional context.

Final stage: Year 3 (full-time) | Years 4–5 (part-time)
