To log in to Pure, use the link below. You may wish to bookmark it for future use; however, you can find the link on several of the Pure guidance pages in addition to this one. Pure uses the University’s Single Sign On (SSO), so you log in using your University user credentials in the same way as for other University managed systems.

University of Cumbria’s research portal (www.research.cumbria.ac.uk) is the publicly visible web portal (front end) for Pure data. Any record with a ‘Public’ visibility setting in Pure (profile, publication or other) will be visible to any member of the public viewing the research portal. Please be aware that, when any information is added or amended in Pure, it will be visible in the portal just a few seconds after the record has been saved.

Certain profile information is not editable in Pure because it is sourced from another system. Your name, title and job title are all sourced from the University’s HR system and updated every evening in a nightly sync of the two systems. If any of this information is incorrect, please contact People & Culture to get the changes made in the HR system. Once those changes have been made, they will be reflected in Pure within 24 hours.

Yes. When you edit your record in Pure, you have the option to add name variants. Select the option ‘Name on Research Portal’, enter the name you want to use on the portal, click create, and then remember to save the record. If you use a middle initial, please include it with the first name.

If you are a current member of staff when you become a postgraduate research student at the University, then your student information should be added to your staff record and you should continue to maintain your staff profile in Pure, logging in using your staff credentials. If you find that you have a separate student profile, please contact pure@cumbria.ac.uk, stating your staff and student ID, and an administrator will merge the records.

If you become a member of staff at the University while you are a postgraduate research student, a staff record may be created for you, depending on the nature of your employment. If you find that you have separate staff and student profiles, please contact pure@cumbria.ac.uk, stating your staff and student ID, and an administrator will merge the records. Once records have been merged, you will need to log in using your staff credentials to maintain your Pure profile.
