Equality Impact Assessments

Introduction

As part of the University’s commitments in relation to the Equality Act 2010, we are legally bound to show “due regard” to the aims of the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) when making decisions and setting policies. This duty focuses on the need to pay due regard to:

  • Eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimization
  • Advance equality of opportunity between different groups, and
  • Foster good relations between different groups.

An Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process designed to ensure that policies, practices and initiatives are fair, meet the needs of our staff and students and that they do not unlawfully discriminate against any individual or group who share a protected characteristic. The university rejuvenated it’s EIA template and embedded a new process in April 2023 and the completion of EIAs will contribute to the university’s wider EDI agenda, embedding EDI across all areas of the university. This webpage will be constantly updated as more EIAs are completed, noting that redactions may be necessary in terms of data and content.

Published Equality Impact Assessments

Below is a list of our published Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs). University colleagues undertaking an EIA should use the new template that can be accessed internally on sharepoint and is accompanied by further guidance, our EIA flowchart and helpful links.
