Better Leisure
Students and Staff with our UoC Active Premium Membership can access Better Leisure facilities in Cumbria. This includes gym, swim and fitness classes. The nearest Better Leisure facilities to Ambleside are Kendal, Ulverston and Penrith. You can visit the Better Leisure Cumbria website and find the nearest location to you and what they offer.
BARROW
FAB Health & Fitness Club
We have recently partnered with FAB Health & Fitness Clubs in Barrow, giving University of Cumbria Students and Staff a discounted membership. BUCs UNIversal Gyms
For all UoC Students and Staff
If you’re a distance learner you can still enjoy low-cost access to fitness facilities at other universities. The BUCs UNIversal Gym is a scheme that allows university students and staff to access gyms at other universities within the network for free or at a discounted rate. Any student with a UoC Active Student+ or Student Premium membership at any of our sports centres can utilise the UNIversal Gymns scheme.

Salt Ayre Leisure Centre
Students and Staff with our UoC Active Premium Membership can access Salt Ayre Leisure Centre facilities in Lancaster. This includes gym, swim and fitness classes. You can read more about what Salt Ayre offer below on their website.
To take out a UoC Active membership visit our online Join site. To upgrade your Pay As You Go membership, first log into the Join app using your UoC email address.
