Module - Management - Managing within a Strategic and Organisational Context
This module aims to enable you to advance your management skills and knowledge by providing the opportunity to synthesise management and leadership principles, skills and behaviours and critically apply these to managing and leading at an organisational / strategic level.
On successful completion, you will be able to:
1. Critically reflect of your own management knowledge, skills and behaviours in relation to managing at a strategic and organisational level, identifying personal perception, values and beliefs that may influence your management / leadership practice.
2. Examine the strategies involved in empowering and motivating individuals and teams in order to enhance individual and team performance in health care settings and the barriers - both perceived and real - that may prevent this.
3. Critically reflect on the manager's/leader’s (your) role in relation to monitoring of quality, standards and risk and apply this in the context of your own field of practice.
4. Critically analyse how learning from this module may transform your understanding of your practice.

Selection Criteria
1st or 2nd class honours degree. Students with other qualifications may be admitted to the course at the discretion of the programme leader. Contact the Enquiry Centre for further details.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must be a health or social care professional. All applicants must complete a pre-entry study skills package such as “preparing for postgraduate study” if they are new to this level of study or have had a break from study for a period of 4 years.
To be eligible to study this module, you must demonstrate the ability to study at this level and commit to attempting the assessment.
When taken as part of a specific named award, the module content and assessment must be focussed towards the subject of that award. Participation in the formative components of the module is required in order to pass the module.
