Accepting your Clearing Place

Accepting your Clearing Place

Make it official

Once we’ve offered you a place on a course, you need to make it official by accepting it. It’s your way of letting us know you’re completely happy with everything and are ready to make that final step into studenthood. You only have 48 hours to do this, so be quick!

Accepting your place is really simple. How you do it depends on whether or not you applied through UCAS.

Registered with UCAS

If you’re registered with UCAS, you can accept your place using UCAS Hub.

  1. Log on to UCAS Hub.
  2. Go to ‘Add Clearing Choice’ and input the details for the course you’ve applied to. You’ll be able to find all the information you need in the offer email you received from Admissions.

Not registered with UCAS

If you have not registered with UCAS, you can accept your place through email.

  1. Look out for an email entitled “University of Cumbria Offer” from our admissions team (make sure ugadmissions@cumbria.ac.uk is on your safe list!)
  2. Reply to the email, confirming that you are accepting your place. It doesn’t need to be fancy – a simple one-liner will do. For example:

    Dear Admissions,
I accept my place and will upload my documents shortly.
    Sincerely,
    Jo Bloggs

Meeting the conditions of your offer

The offer email contains details about the conditions of your offer. It may be a request for certificates or an academic reference, which you'll need to upload to the Applicant Portal.

Don’t worry if you don’t have these ready yet, we know that it takes some time to get these documents together. The important thing is to let us know that you are accepting your place as soon as possible.

Sort out your student finance

If you have already applied for student finance, but have changed your course through Clearing, remember to let them know as this may affect your funding.

If you haven’t applied for student finance yet, do so quickly! It can take up to 6 weeks for your student loan to be processed, so it’s essential that you apply as soon as possible so you can receive your funding on time. But, don’t worry if you apply a little late - Student Finance England will always try to give you a portion of your money to tide you over for the first few weeks.

Our money advisers are also on hand to help you – whether you need budgeting advice or emergency funds.
