What is Pure?
Pure is the University of Cumbria’s new research information management system (RIMS), designed to capture and collate data on research and knowledge exchange activity in one central location.
Data can be viewed and updated by staff with user or admin access to the Pure system. Researcher profiles, publications, projects and impact are visible externally via the Research Portal, showcasing the University’s research to potential funders, partners and stakeholders.

Latest updates
Pure is being rolled out in stages, with new features added as it is configured and integrated with other University systems.
January 2026
Pure replaced Insight as the University’s institutional repository and the new research portal became the new way to search and view research outputs publicly.
April 2026
Academic staff able to log in to Pure and update their own profiles, add and update research outputs and dataset metadata, and add activities.
