Our Barrow campus does not offer typical halls of residence or large city-based student accommodation provision.

Instead, we are working with local landlords, letting agents and investors to develop a range of accommodation options in Barrow. These include shared occupancy properties, as well as larger shared houses that reflect more traditional student living arrangements. As the campus grows, we expect the range of options to continue to expand.

Students can search for available properties via our Cumbria Student Pad platform. This provides access to live listings from local letting agents and landlords, offering a consistent and easy-to-use way to explore accommodation options in Barrow.

We work closely with local agents and landlords and encourage the use of reputable and accredited providers. While students are responsible for their own accommodation choices, we aim to signpost options that align with expected standards.

Some landlords and agents may offer the option to reserve properties in advance, depending on availability and their individual processes, in line with Renter Rights Act. We recommend engaging early and registering your interest with us so we can keep you informed of any suitable opportunities.

We have a dedicated Residential Team within the University who are available to support students throughout the accommodation process. The team can provide guidance, answer questions, and help students feel confident in navigating their options.

Across Barrows local student housing market, typical weekly rents generally range from £130–£165 per week. Properties at the lower end of this range tend to reflect more basic shared accommodation, while higher-cost options may include additional amenities, more modern facilities, or all-inclusive bills.

Accommodation in Barrow is currently arranged through private landlords and letting agents, rather than directly managed by the University. Students will typically enter into tenancy agreements directly with the accommodation provider.

We work closely with trusted local partners to help students access suitable accommodation options and provide guidance throughout the process. However, responsibility for reviewing and signing tenancy agreements sits with the student (and their guarantor where applicable).
