Module - Negotiated Learning (Level 7)
HCPD7202 7205
Negotiated learning modules are 20 credits. Learning is self-directed, allowing you to extend your knowledge and understanding in an area of study that complements previous experience and learning.
You select a topic which is relevant to your area of practice and programme of study. The learning process may involve a purely academic activity (such as writing a literature review) and may relate specifically to an aspect of your practice (such as the development of a learning package or a patient information leaflet), however, it will not involve the assessment of practice.
Before starting a Negotiated Learning (NGL) module you must discuss your topic and learning outcomes with the Module Leader.
The running of this module is dependent on there being sufficient numbers of interest.
There is a mandatory requirement that a minimum of 40 credits per academic year is studied unless a formal break from study or programme leader agreement exists.

1. Operate with self-direction and originality in choosing a subject area to investigate and act
autonomously in planning and implementing a line of enquiry
2. Demonstrate mastery of the key concepts and principles associated with the area of study
3. Interrogate and evaluate the evidence in relation to your chosen area of study
4. Critically analyse how learning from this module may transform your understanding of your
practice.
To be eligible to study this module, students must demonstrate the ability to study at 6 level and commit to attempting the assessment.
