Cumbria Law Excellence Scholarship

The Cumbria Law Excellence Scholarship offers up to £4,500 (£1,500 per year of study for a 3-year degree) for eligible full-time taught LLB (Hons) Law students at the University of Cumbria for the 2026/27 or 2027/8 academic year.

There is no need to apply for the award as the Admissions team and Dean of the Institute of Business, Industry and Leadership will rank applications to shortlist the four recipients and will contact you should you be successful.

Shortlisting will be ranked by:

  • Be assessed as a Home Fee Paying Student and have provided the University of Cumbria with evidence of your Right to Study in the UK
  • Have a permanent home address in Cumbria or Lancashire

Where more than four students meet the stipulations of home address and home fee payer, applications will be ranked by University of Cumbria approved Contextual Data, including:

  • Students living in a postal code region with the lowest participation in Higher Education (Polar 4 Quintile 1)
  • Students that are estranged from their parents
  • Students that are care leavers or have caring responsibilities
  • Students that were in receipt of or received free school meals during their secondary education
  • Students with caring responsibilities

Applicants must hold an offer for September 2026 or September 2027 entry, be a home fee payer, and all academic conditions must be met before the course start date.  Payments will be made in March of each year for a maximum of 3 years where the student has paid or has approved Student Finance support to pay the tuition fees.

There is no need to apply for this award, if eligible the Admissions team will send you the terms and conditions to sign and return.  Once registered on your programme, you will be requested to provide your bank details for the scholarship to be put directly into your bank account.

Please note: scholarships cannot be combined with other awards.
