Short course - Cumbria Skills Academy
Introducing the Cumbria Skills Academy
The Cumbria Skills Academy is a part of the dedicated workforce development arm of the Centre of Excellence in Paramedic Practice at the University of Cumbria. Specialising in non-credit bearing continuing professional development (CPD) workshops and tailored consultancy, the Skills Academy works collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across health and care. Whether it's refreshing clinical knowledge or developing new skills, our activity is designed to respond to the evolving needs of our partners, the current and future workforce, and—most importantly—the patients we all serve. With input from a diverse academic team, we offer flexible, high-quality learning opportunities that are shaped around real-world practice.
In line with the NHS's three key shifts—towards prevention, personalised care in the community, and digital transformation—the Cumbria Skills Academy supports staff development in these crucial areas. Our offer ranges from community-based care skills to digital upskilling, helping teams move confidently from analogue ways of working to more technologically advanced systems. Committed to providing value for money, we ensure that our workshops and consultancy services deliver meaningful impact. Below, you will find links to our current opportunities, but if your specific needs aren't listed, please do get in touch—we’d be delighted to explore how we can support you.
If you are a prospective candidate, welcome to our skills academy page! Whether you’re looking to build on existing expertise or explore new areas of practice, we invite you to browse the wide range of workshops and consultancy opportunities we offer. Some sessions can be applied for directly online, while others may require application through your employer—details are provided on each course page.
