The programme validation process is a key mechanism through which the university assures academic standards.

The University’s Quality Handbook can be found here. The University has also developed additional guidance notes and templates relating to validation and revalidation. Below is some general information about the validation process.

The Curriculum Design Framework is designed to:
- Create a simpler, more coherent and consistent approach to programme and pathway structures
- Deliver a stable relevant offer at level 4 which supports new students on transition into higher education
- Create a strong cohort identity from the outset
- Create a more stable timetable
- Enable more effective and efficient student administration and support
- Enable more efficient curriculum delivery.
Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). The validation processes are designed to ensure the Unversity aligns to the QAA Quality Code. In particular:
- Part A: Setting and Maintaining Academic Standards.
- Part B1: Programme Design, Development and Approval.
- Part B8: Programme Monitoring and Review.
In the development of proposals, programme teams will want to make use of the QAA's Characteristics Statements (for different types of awards) and the Subject Benchmark Statements. These now all form part of Part A of the Quality Code.
