Participants with relevant experience and/or qualifications from the sectors of Electrical Design, Electrical Installation and Electrical Maintenance
Learning objectives
At the end of this course participants will be able to:
- Specify statutory and non-statutory documentation relevant to the electrical design process
- Understand the application of pre-design information, supply characteristics and earthing arrangements
- Understand conductor selection, incorporating detrimental influences and application of diversity during load calculation
- Explain and understand circuit and electric shock protection
- Explain and understand isolation equipment and procedures
Assessment format
Participants will complete an end of course design project that consolidates the learning achieved throughout the course.

Booking
To book your place, please see below for arrangements if you want to pay by purchase order and invoice or by credit card.
Conditions
If you have selected a course which is delivered online, please read the technical requirements before booking. If you are unable to undertake a booked course due to not having the required equipment, no refund will be offered.
Inclusions and exclusions
- Individual learning packs including presentations, case studies/scenario materials; the IET wiring regulations (18th Edition) and the On-Site Guide (Incorporating Amendment No. 3) will be issued to you, either electronically in the case of an online course, or in hard copy for in person courses.
- Upon successful completion of the course assessment, a Project Academy certificate will be sent to you electronically shortly after the course.
- Meals and refreshments are not included at in person courses. You will be able to bring your own lunch or buy food on or near the training premises.

- Purchase order and any additional details to be quoted on invoice.
If you have not conducted business with the University of Cumbria before, please be aware that both of us may have administrative procedures required to set up our respective customer/supplier accounts and the time taken to complete these may impact on the availability of places on your preferred course.
Payment, cancellation and changes
- Bookings, including purchase orders, to be received at least four weeks ahead of course start date.
- At our discretion, late bookings may be accepted: please check with us before sending a purchase order.
- Invoices will be issued four weeks before the course once delivery is confirmed (or immediately on receipt of an accepted late booking) and will be due for payment immediately. Full payment should be received by us prior to the course commencing.
- In the event that a booked delegate is unable to attend, substitutions may be made at no cost. UoC must be notified of the substituted names prior to the course commencing. No substitutions will be accepted once the course is in progress.
- In the event of a substitute not being provided for a cancelled candidate place, the unfilled place will be charged for.
- Any no-shows during the course will be charged for.
- For all cancellations and substitutions, UoC must be notified in writing via email to project.academy@cumbria.ac.uk.

On receipt of your booking and confirmation that we can accommodate you, we will send a link to take your payment.
