Staff summer coffee
On Thursday 1 June and Thursday 6 July, staff are warmly invited to take time out at 10:00 and visit the chapel space at Fusehill Street for coffee and cake. If you’ve never been to the chapel, it’s a relaxing and peaceful space with a simplicity that helps rest!
Ramadan 2023
Ramadan 2023 is estimated to begin on 22nd or 23rd March, and culminate with the first day of Eid falling on the 22nd or 23rd April 2023 (exact dates are subject to sightings of the moon). University honorary Muslim chaplains Ilyas Patel and Nawas Munshi have provided a set of guidelines for students and staff fasting in Ramadan (please refer to your student and staff global for full details) and further information can be found via the Muslim Council of Britain’s Guide to Ramadan

Safe Harbour
The chaplains are really looking forward to welcoming new and returning students this year, and we hope you'll join us for some of the following events. Whether you already have a strong faith or are simply interested in thinking a bit more about life's journey, finding ways to develop your character, feel more alive or explore your purpose, we're here to listen and encourage.
Do get in touch with us if you'd like an individual appointment, have ideas to share, are searching or curious! And do keep an eye on our Twitter account for prayers and short videos over the coming weeks. We look forward to meeting you and wish you a fulfilling and happy time here at the University of Cumbria.
The chaplain sends very best wishes to all students and staff as this new year gets underway. We’re still in the season of Epiphany, when the Church remembers the visit of the Wise Men to the young child Jesus. It’s a great time to think about your own journey – and your gifts. What strengths are you discovering? What are the special abilities and gifts that you bring to your work or studies? Being aware of these keeps us focused on what we can contribute- and stops us delving into comparisons and self- attacking. Be glad of your gifts at this time and give them the space to grow. If you’re interested in doing an exercise to discover them, please contact the chaplain to arrange a time over Teams or face to face: caroline.kennedy@cumbria.ac.uk
