The Freedom of Information Act provides access to a wide range of information held by public bodies. It gives members of the public the right to request access to information, and places obligations on the University on how it must respond to requests for information.
The Publication Scheme
The University Publication Scheme lists information which we already make routinely available. Most of the information listed in the Scheme is already available on our website, or can be requested using the contact details shown in the Scheme.
You can also request information which is not already listed in the Publication Scheme.
Under the Freedom of Information Act you have the right to be told whether the University has the information and to receive a copy of the information (subject to cost limitations and exemptions).
Where there is a cost associated with complying with the request, the requester may required to cover this cost. These costs are outlined in our Freedom of Information Charging Policy.
Requests for information must be received in writing but can be made by email or letter.

Putting things right
If you have previously made a request under the Freedom of Information Act and are unhappy with the way your request for information has been handled, please contact our Records Management Officer in the first instance.
If we are still concerned, you can ask for the decision to be reviewed under the university's Freedom of Information complaints procedure.
