Course Overview
The BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering programme, designed in collaboration with BAE Systems, prepares you for a successful engineering career by covering a broad range of essential topics. You will study core areas including mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, fluid mechanics, and control systems, providing a solid foundation for understanding motion, energy systems, and machine interactions. Advanced manufacturing techniques, such as 3D printing, robotics, and computer-aided design (CAD), are integrated into the curriculum, alongside developing skills in mathematics, engineering analysis, and mechatronics.
In Year 2, you will enhance your expertise in applied materials, digital manufacturing, and mechatronics, while building your practical experience.
In Year 3, you will tackle advanced topics like Advanced Manufacturing Systems, Materials, and Automation, culminating in the Integrated Engineering Project, where you will apply your knowledge to solve real-world challenges. Additionally, this programme is associated with a BAE Systems Scholarship providing a bursary and a 12-week paid placement* with BAE Systems offering valuable industrial experience. This programme equips you with the skills and confidence to excel in the engineering industry.
