BA (Hons) - International Business Management

How you will learn

This programme integrates theory and practice by providing inputs to the student learning from guest speakers, lectures, practising managers and through supporting assessment.

Students will have opportunities to give and receive peer review on formative assessment and will be guided throughout in developing their skills in this vocational aspect of their personal development.

Primarily, delivery is face to face. However, good use is made of the University’s VLE and other learning resources such as e-portfolio to support teaching and learning. The team uses a wide range of teaching methods including lectures, seminars, workshops, field work, work-based learning including placements, employer based case studies, live projects, guided learning, simulations, discussion groups including virtual forums and other digital formats.

How you will be assessed

You will also be asked to work in small groups which encourages collaborative learning. We will motivate you through your learning and engagement in the following ways:

• We will balance out the assessment calendar the best we can so that you (and your tutors) reduce the stress points created by the “bunching” of assignments in the calendar;
• Through your engagement you will have the ability to make informed judgements in relation to your own work;
• We will provide you with effective feedback and feedforward i.e. looking ahead to the next assignment;
• We have procedures in place to ensure that you are not unfairly disadvantaged in any way. Research methods related to the field, study skills, and employability are embedded into the curriculum throughout levels 4, 5 and 6.

Tuition Fees

The figures above don't include accommodation and living costs.

Tuition fees are set annually and are subject to review each year. The University may therefore raise tuition fees in the second or subsequent years of a course, in line with inflation and/or the maximum permitted by law or Government policy. Students will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.

Additional Costs

There will be some additional costs. For example all students will need to purchase stationery and may wish to purchase some text books. Extra costs may also be applicable to cover field trips, membership fees etc. although such features are usually options within the course.

Books are reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change, course welcome information will provide you with an indicative list for the year.

Books and Journals

Most core text books are available via the University's library, however students may wish to buy copies of any texts used to support your learning on your course. This could cost between £50 - £100 per year.

Stationery

Students should budget for stationery and consumables for your own personal use. This should include notebooks, pens and pencils for taking notes in class and/or in the field. Students should also budget for the purchase of USB pen drives, as well as occasional printing and photocopying costs incurred in the preparation or submission of coursework. Whilst you will choose how much you need, expect to pay around £30 - £40 per year for these items.
