Business Engagement Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how the University of Cumbria (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles your personal data when you participate in funded projects and business activities. These include those funded by:

UK Shared Prosperity Fund 

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC)is the data controller for all the personal data required to deliver the programmeFor more information see the DLUHC privacy Notice.  

 

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)-Projects now closed

The Ministry for Housing Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) ERDF Managing Authority is the data controller for all the personal data required to deliver this programme. For more information, see the ERDF Privacy Notice.

 

European Social Fund (ESF)- Projects now closed

The Department for Works and Pensions ESF managing Authority is the data controller for personal data needed to deliver this programme. For more information, see the Department for Work and Pensions Privacy Notice (via the ‘Personal Information Charter’)

 

UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) 

The University of Cumbria is the data controller for all the personal data required to deliver the programmes

Personal data we process

We collect the following information about business owners or business contacts either directly or indirectly

  • Name
  • Address
  • Postcode
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Ethnicity, gender, disability, and age

 



How we use your personal data

We use this information to:

  • Establish if your business qualifies to receive the required support
  • Provide your business with the required support
  • Send you communication about other similar funding opportunities, projects, short courses, events and apprenticeships.

 



Our legal basis for processing your personal data

The lawful reason we rely on for processing your personal data are:

  • It is necessary for the performance of a ‘Public Task’ or task carried out in the public interest. This is to provide support to your business or the business you work with
  • We have your consent- to send you additional communication
  • It is necessary for our or third parties’ legitimate interests e.g., when we use third parties to evaluate effectiveness of the support and funding

We collect your ethnicity and disability information because it is necessary for substantial public interests in this case for equality of opportunity and treatment when considering funding eligibility.

 



Who we share your personal data with

We may share your information with

  • Our funding providers
  • Our project partners
  • Government funded Growth Hubs
  • Auditors who can be appointed by us, our project partners, funding providers, 
  • Third parties e.g., independent evaluators appointed to evaluate effectiveness of the project.

 



How long we keep your personal data for

We are required to retain your personal data for at least 10 years after the funded project ends. This is to allow the funding provider to audit the records.
