I knew I wanted to do Creative Writing because I've always wanted to write, I visited the university in late spring and the campus was so green and healthy looking and the students looked happy. It seemed like a good place for writing in, and it was. The other universities I looked at were very central in their cities, meaning the buildings didn't have much character and the campuses were always so busy.
All of the lecturers made it clear they were always available - you knew there was someone you could get in touch with, especially during the first year. I used the counselling service for a little while and it was hugely beneficial they genuinely wanted us to make the most of the experience and do well,
I still keep in touch with my best friend from Uni, and next year she is going to be the maid of honour at my wedding.
I am now a Junior Technical Consultant at VLDB solutions. I write screenplays in my spare time, which I first started doing on a Uni course.
My advice to current and prospective students would be to focus on learning everything you can, and take all of the criticism on the chin.
There is nothing I would change about my Uni experience, I was a socially awkward and anxious person. I grew a lot and gained so much confidence during those three years.
